Subject: The Court held unanimously that there had been:a violation of Article 3 (prohibition of inhuman or degrading treatment) of the European Convention on Human Rights concerning the applicant’s allegation that he was ill-treated in police custody; and,a violation of Article 3 (lack of an effective investigation) of the Convention concerning the failure of the authorities to carry out an effective investigation into the applicant’s allegation of ill-treatment.
